The best places to dive
Diving is a fascinating underwater adventure that allows you to explore the planet’s abodes hidden in the depths of the elements. Well-known divers list the top 5 places where you should definitely dive.
1. Shwinny bay, Gozo island, Malta
The depth varies from 15 to 30 metres. The underwater terrain is impressive, not so much for its flora and fauna as for its geological features. The Blue Hole in Javre, the Cathedral, and the Double Arch are must-see sites. Gonzo Island itself is not too far from the main island, making it easy to reach. To reach the unrivalled beauty, one must pass the salt marsh. The path has some challenges, but these will not be a problem for those who are eager to reach the destination.
2. Verzasca Valley, Switzerland
The unique place offers not just diving, but ice diving! However, the difficulty is that such a trip can only be undertaken by those who are trained, as the safety regulations are as strict as possible. However, the effort is well worth it as from the first minutes of diving you’ll find yourself in an incredible world whose inhabitants will delight your eyes. There are 3 recommended sites to visit. The most popular is the Pozzodei Salti. Depths range from 5 to 15 metres depending on the time of year.
3. Lake Capo d’Acqua, Italy.
The beauty of this place is that it is not just a beautiful submarine area. Here you can discover the history of Italy by diving into the depths of ancient times. What is interesting is that the study begins on land, arriving at a colourful old village. From there you dive into the lake, which is about 8 metres deep. There are sections of no more than 5 metres. The difference in levels requires special training, in particular the ability to manage buoyancy.
4. Churchill Barriers, Scotland
The Churchill Barriers will manage to conquer the most avid diver. The area is unique in its collection of shipwrecks with prominent parts protruding from the water. Such “sculptures” were not formed by chance. They were once deliberately sunk to block the passage to Scapa Flow base. Today it is one of the most popular diving sites. It reaches depths of about 15 metres. Although the sites are spectacular, you should keep safety in mind and be careful to explore the shipwrecks.
5. Zealand, Netherlands
This fascinating site is spread out in the southern province of the Netherlands and features numerous dive sites. There are sites with only beautiful topography and unique flora and fauna and others that combine both. Depths range from 8 to 30 metres, so one has to be extremely careful. Visibility also has its own subtleties – somewhere it is extremely clear, while somewhere one has to strain one’s eyesight. The terrain allows you to get to know the once unknown inhabitants of our planet, but also to simply enjoy a great holiday with extreme activity.
