Extreme activities that everyone should try
Some people prefer a quiet holiday where they can bask in the sun or go for a drive in the countryside. But there are those who find this kind of ‘holiday’ image boring. They seek an extreme, in order to fill the body with thrills. Today, there are a number of ways you can get that energy.
1. Canyoning
This activity combines several activities: sliding, jumping and sliding. Only those whose physical condition allows it can handle it. Also, you need to have psychological stamina as there are waterfalls, steep rocks and other natural obstacles on the way.
Canyoning requires special equipment that helps you climb cliffs and cross waterways. You can do it in Interlaken (Switzerland), Auerklamm (Austria), Verdon (France) and Aosta (Spain).
2. Kiteboarding
Kiteboarding is another extreme “hybrid” of wakeboarding, snowboarding, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, skateboarding and even sailing. The action is very similar to canyoning, although the movements are different. The advantage is the maximum variety and involvement of all body muscles.
You can enjoy this experience with special training, equipment and common sense. Ideal locations include Tarifa in Spain, the kiteboarding capital and Lake Garda in Italy and Lycate in France.
3. Mountainbike
The name is not difficult to guess that you have to travel through mountainous terrain, but not on your own, but on an appropriate bike. Vehicles are equipped with certain elements that ensure the ability to cross steep paths and withstand the most extreme conditions.
You can, of course, only ride on designated cycling paths, but they are also quite different from those in the city. Those who want to conquer the winding terrain on their bike will find the numerous trails in the Alps suitable. For the fearful, the streets of Amsterdam are a good place to start.
4. Paragliding
The classic paraglider is a great way to let you feel as if you are a bird soaring on the ground for a while. If managed correctly, the activity is quite safe and the enjoyment is tons. One can get a fabulous view from a bird’s eye view, because everything takes place in nature.
The best places to spend your time in this way are Grenoble (France), Huesca (Spain) and Interlaken (Switzerland). There are also many other interesting locations, no less picturesque and impressive.
5. Kayaking
Kayaking has become very popular in recent years. The main feature is that it can be quiet and can be very extreme. It all depends on the terrain.
We recommend kayaking with a breeze in the French Alps. A calm ride is assured on Lake Garda, Italy. You can also pay attention to the sea near the island of Elba (Tuscany).
6. Parachute
The most popular way to quench your thirst for extreme sports is by parachuting. You will need some courage and no fear of heights as you will be falling freely at a speed of up to 120mph for a long time.
There are a lot of locations in Europe. Top spot is Tyrol in Austria where you can enjoy a mountain view while flying. Another option is the Algarve in Portugal, where you can watch the splendid Atlantic.
7. Skiing
Downhill skiing is a classic. The number of ski resorts in Europe is off the charts. The most famous ones are in the Alps. If you want something less crowded and more expensive, you can go to Bulgaria or Turkey.
